This is the home page of the Long Island Silent Flyers. We are a group of radio control flight enthusiasts specializing in thermal duration and slow electric flight aircraft. We have access to a beautiful field (Stillwell Woods Park) in Syosset, Nassau County, New York.
Click here for a map to the field.
We hold monthly meetings at the Syosset Public Library on South Oyster Bay Road, just north of the Long Island Expressway. Meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month, beginning promptly at 7:30PM. All are welcome, from beginner to expert.

Flying is fun! Just ask anyone at the field. Come out to the field on a nice weekend day and see what we are up to. You will meet some friendly and interesting people who love to talk about flying radio controlled aircraft. A relaxing hobby that can also provide exercise for those of us with sedentary lives. You can feel the excitement of finding a thermal and watching a plane gain hundreds of feet of altitude. All without a propeller!
If you just obtained a new flying model that you would like to try out, bring it up and the folks at the field will help you get started. Be sure to read the page on Field Etiquette before you come, so you have some idea of what to expect when you first arrive.
Information on how to join as well as our guidelines can be found on our Info Page under the new member packet. A list of reccomended models can be found on our What We Fly page under the subcategory of Planes to Consider.
